The Midrasha Adult Education Institute is an independent adult Jewish education initiative which imports and designs a diverse range of programmes to cater for a target group of adult Jewish learners seeking knowledge for knowledge sake in an open and inclusive learning environment.

The Midrasha was launched in 2006 and has brought the Florence Melton School of Adult Jewish learning to South Africa, as a project of the Hebrew University, Jerusalem. In 2008 it launched a Graduate Programme. The Midrasha is required to fund raise in order to sustain the quality of Jewish adult education programmes it offers. In addition to our operating budget we are required to pay an annual curriculum fee to Melton’s Head Office
for the rights to teach the courses.
