For thousands of years, Jewish wisdom has offered profound insights into character development, purpose, relationships, happiness, and moral growth. In an age marked by distraction, uncertainty, and constant change, these timeless teachings provide practical guidance for cultivating a life of depth, integrity, and fulfillment.
Join Rabbi Dr. Shmuly Yanklowitz this Elul (a month dedicated to reflection & transformation) for an inspiring four-session journey into Jewish teachings on personal growth. Drawing from classical Jewish texts, contemporary psychology, philosophy, and lived experience, this course will help participants develop tools for greater self-awareness, resilience, purpose, and flourishing.
Whether you are deeply familiar with Jewish learning or encountering these ideas for the first time, you will leave with practical wisdom that can be applied immediately in everyday life.
We will look at an introduction to Mussar (Character development, refinement and living an ethical life) and Elul, Peace vs Truth, Changing the World and Pirkei Avot (Ethics of our fathers).

Founder & President of Uri L’Tzedek (the Orthodox Social Justice movement), Rabbi Shmuly Yanklowitz has twice been named one of America’s Top Rabbis by Newsweek and has been named by The Forward as one of The Most Inspiring Rabbis in America as well as one of America’s 50 most influential Jews. Rabbi Yanklowitz is the author of 30 books on Jewish ethics and his writings have appeared in outlets as diverse as the New York Times, the Wall Street Journal, the Washington Post, the Guardian, and the Atlantic among many other secular and religious publications. He has served as a speaker at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, a Wexner Graduate Fellow, and a Rothschild Fellow in Cambridge, UK. As the President of Uri L’Tzedek, one of the initiatives he’s particularly proud of is it the Shower Project which has provided tens of thousands of showers to unsheltered people.
Rabbi Shmuly received a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas in Austin, a Master’s degree from Harvard University and a Doctorate from Columbia University. He was ordained as a rabbi by Yeshivat Chovevei Torah, along with 3 private Orthodox ordinations in Israel. He serves as the Founder & President of Uri L’Tzedek (the Orthodox Social Justice movement), the President & Dean of Valley Beit Midrash (Torah learning center), the Founder and CEO of Shamayim (Jewish animal advocacy ), and the Founder and President of YATOM (Jewish foster and adoption network). Rabbi Shmuly, Shoshana, and their children live in Scottsdale, Arizona. They have also served as foster parents to several children.
